In light of National Apprenticeship Week (9–15 February 2026), Fi returns to reflect on her journey as an apprentice at Finance with Flow, one year on from her last update.
Join us as Fi shares how the past year has shaped her professionally and personally, from growing responsibilities and increased confidence to managing her own clients. As she nears the completion of her apprenticeship, Fi offers an insight into how this experience continues to act as a launchpad into a unique and exciting career within the finance world.
Hi, I’m Fi, and I’m excited to return to share an update on my role as an apprentice at Finance with Flow as I approach the final stages of my apprenticeship…
Time really has flown by. I started my apprenticeship in January 2024, and since then I’ve achieved far more than I initially thought possible. I’ve passed five computer-based exams, two case study exams, and completed a wide range of skills- and behaviours-based activities. While there is still work to do, I am on track to complete my apprenticeship later this year, which feels both exciting and a little surreal.
As my studies have progressed, so too have my responsibilities at Finance with Flow. What started as learning the foundations has naturally developed into applying that knowledge in real-life situations. I now manage my own book of clients and work closely with them on a day-to-day basis. This has been one of the most rewarding parts of my apprenticeship. I feel incredibly lucky to work with such supportive clients, many of whom have taken a genuine interest in my development and have encouraged me as I’ve grown in confidence.
Over the past year, I’ve also taken on the onboarding of new clients, guiding them through their first steps with Finance with Flow and helping to build strong working relationships from the outset. This has allowed me to expand my professional network and gain a deeper understanding of how the business operates as a whole, not just within my own role.
One of the biggest changes I’ve noticed is in my confidence. Tasks that once felt daunting now feel familiar, and I’m increasingly able to work independently, problem-solve, and trust my own judgement. Having the support of Roz and the wider team has made a huge difference, giving me the reassurance to challenge myself and step outside my comfort zone.
Looking ahead, I’m really excited about the future. I’m proud to be part of Roz’s growth plans for Finance with Flow and hope to move towards a more managerial role as the business continues to develop. Completing my apprenticeship won’t feel like an ending, but rather the next step in my career. I’m also looking forward to having a bit more free time once my studies are complete — although I know I’ll miss the structure and sense of achievement that comes with working towards such a big goal.
Reflecting during National Apprenticeship Week, I can honestly say that choosing an apprenticeship has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. It has allowed me to learn, grow, and build a career while gaining real, hands-on experience in a supportive and forward-thinking business. I’m excited to see where the next chapter takes me.
takes me.
