In light of National Apprenticeship Week (10-14 February 2024) Fi talks to us one year on to talk about her experience as an apprentice at Finance with Flow.

Hi I’m Fi, and I’m excited to return to discuss my role as an apprentice at Finance with Flow a year on….
I have now been enrolled on an apprenticeship programme to become CIMA qualified for one year – wow, it has flown by! It has had its up and downs, but seeing where I was just one year ago, and where I am now makes it all worthwhile.
My achievements on the apprenticeship programme over the year just gone include passing 4 exams, learning and submitting case studies of new skills and behaviours I have developed, and working towards achieving the work place training hours required. Within my role, I am now supporting a new client and have taken more of a lead with my existing clients and working more on value add, rather than just ‘doing the numbers’.
My favourite moment at Finance with Flow is less of a moment and more of a feeling. Seeing us all getting to know each other and feeling the support from everyone has encouraged me to continue, even when it all feels a bit too much.
Over the next year, I hope to stay on track with the qualification side of the apprenticeship, but also to continue to develop my experience as a Management Accountant within my role with Finance with Flow. I hope to continue applying the new knowledge and skills I have to my work and feel as though I am really making a difference to our clients.
If I was to advise anyone looking to do an apprenticeship I would absolutely say go for it! It is hard work, but there are so many benefits to learning whilst working. By using what you have learnt though the qualification, it really embeds your learning. The sooner you start, the sooner you finish!
