In this case study, we catch up with Alex, Director of Hawkins Electrical to talk about their journey with Finance with Flow (FWF).
Company Background
When we became part of the RSK group of companies, we were faced with a barrage of requests for financial information which was required at the touch of a button. We did not have this capability, even with the incumbent outsourced finance we had been with for decades so someone set up for the new requests was required quickly.
The reason we initially chose FWF was because of the Reputation they had within the RSK group as they already served a few of their companies and did so extremely effectively. I do always like to have a good working relationship with the finance team so this was an important aspect when looking to agree with engaging FWF. The team did not disappoint and have been fantastic.
Onboarding Process
FWF provided a very smooth integration that was achieved in just a matter of months and worked well with our incumbent accountants – it couldn’t have gone any better. The fact that this was so smooth is testament to the Team at FWF as they took over the finance side from a company that has been with Hawkins Electrical since the very start, I understand that it is a mammoth task!
Quality of service
When looking at the service that we have been provided by FWF it is 10/10. The team are always on hand whenever and wherever we need them.
We have a complex WIP (Work in Progress) system here at Hawkins Electrical and they made short work (as it appeared on the surface but I am sure there will have been an incredible amount of work behind the scenes) of applying into how RSK wanted to see it. The wizardry of their excel and Sage capabilities dumbfounded me!
Communication
The communication of the team has been perfect. Even if we needed help out of hours, someone was there to save the day!
Expertise and Support
I would call the Finance with Flow team – Finance Wizards!
I felt comforted that they seemed to pick up on our small nuances quickly where required. Going forward, I would say that they would serve any other client in our industry extremely well as well!
Impact on business
FWF have implemented a new expenses system that although is currently unquantified, I would expect to have in the region of a £30k saving in the financial year.
Outsourcing has allowed me to focus more on our core business.
Without FWF there is no chance I would have been able to meet the finance demands set by group and be able to focus on the core business as well.
FWF have focused on stabilising the ship and absorption of the demands. The systems that they brought in and helped develop will form the foundations for growth with our new Financial Controller running with them.
Satisfaction
I have been very satisfied with FWF and would most definitely recommend them for all the reasons stated. They are very professional, down to earth (normal people and not a stereotyped accountant!), knowledgeable, kind, forthcoming, helpful and just brilliant.
Specific Outcomes
FWF were specifically tasked with the expenses overhaul, which they completed tremendously.
We had never been audited before and so our eyes have been opened. Compliance has remained at our high standards and strategic planning will be possible moving forward from the foundations that FWF helped build.
Final verdict
Simply put, thank you for everything. FWF helped both us as a company and me personally through what was a very intense and difficult time, particularly whilst being onboarded.
